Michael B. Hickey
Halifax
It is with heartfelt sadness we the family, announce the passing of Michael Blair Hickey, age 63, on Saturday, April 24,2021, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in North Sydney on April 27, 1957, he was the son of the late Don and Mabel (Tobin) Hickey. He left North Sydney to attend Dalhousie University and spent most of his working years in the South Shore and Halifax area. He met many people in his short life, many remained close friends until his final days. Mike was an amazing father and learned his parenting skills from two of the best. He was so proud of his son and loved his life with Patrick.
Mike leaves behind to mourn his son Patrick (Lisa) in Halifax, his two precious grandchildren, Owen and Sadie, who he loved to spend time with doing those special things. He is also survived by his two sisters Wendy (Eric) Dunphy, New Brunswick, Trudy (Paul) Boudreau, Iowa and his brother Joe (Bernadette) Hickey, Alberta. Also left to mourn are several nieces and nephews, Evan (Lisanne) Nemeth, Kailynn (Dan) Clark, Cole Boudreau and Joey Hickey, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Don and Mabel (Tobin) Hickey.
The family would like to thank his cousin Dr. Beverly Musgrave, for the support she provided in his final days. Thank you Tracy for your special friendship with Mike for many years.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
