Obituary of Maureen Ann Hodges

1951-2021
It is with utter sadness that we announce the death of Maureen Ann Hodges, née Miklos, on May 8, 2021, in her 70th year.
Maureen was born in Brantford, Ontario. She leaves behind John, her beloved husband of 48 years, and her daughters Laura (Shane) and Victoria (Eric). Maureen was also the most loved and cherished Nana of Patrick, Sophie, Bella, and Hannah. They will all miss her so much.
She is predeceased by her father, James Miklos (2019). Maureen is survived by her mother, Margaret; 6 siblings who will miss her greatly; as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Maureen attended St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing College in Hamilton and graduated 50 years ago. She had a long career of caring for others, mostly at KGH in the Operating Room. She loved her job, and was an exceptional nurse.
As a young girl she was adventurous, doing things like jumping out of airplanes and backpacking through Europe. She loved to host a party, cook good food, drink good wine, and always make you feel welcome. She had many friends accumulated all through her life, and everywhere she went people liked and admired her.
Thank you endlessly to the nurses and doctors at KGH Cancer Clinic. Many thanks to the nurses and PSWs from Bayshore Health who have brought her so much kindness and compassion at the end, and the palliative team at South East LHIN who have made this difficult time just a little easier on all of us.
In lieu of flowers, donations would kindly be accepted by Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF Canada), per Maureen’s wishes.
Due to current Covid regulations, a very small family gathering will be held at Tompkins Funeral Home, Gananoque. Cremation has taken place. A memorial for friends and family will be held at a later date.
