It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Mary Slaney of St. Lawrence announces her passing. Mary passed away at the US Memorial Nursing Home in St. Lawrence on Thursday, May 20th, 2021, at the age of 99. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her children Sandy (Joy) Slaney of St. Lawrence, Brendan (Pat) Slaney of Calgary, Betty Dunn (Albert Hudson) of St. John’s, Kevin (Viola) Slaney of Winterland, Wish (Madeline) Slaney of Burin, Dan (Nora) Slaney of Creston South; 15 grandchildren Jana, Jason, Gina, Brenda, Karla, Danielle, Brad, April, Gill, Derek, Diane, Andrew, Megan, Nicholas; 16 great-grandchildren Jayme, Jonah, Laila, Lucas, Storm, Maxi, Landon, Bradley, Nicholas, Caleb, Carter, Brayden, Eric, Matthew, D’Arcy, Ty. Plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Thank you to special niece Lisa.
Mary was predeceased by husband Sylvester; parents Alexander & Annie Fitzpatrick; siblings Gus, Sandy, Isabel, Louise, Lydia, Ida; son-in-law Wayne Dunn; grandson Matthew.
The Slaney Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Home – Burin, Thursday, May 20th, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Friday, May 21st, 2021 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please note: Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions this will be a walk through visitation. Everyone is asked to sign the contact tracing sheet upon entering the building and masks are required. Please note that there is no food permitted in the funeral home.
A Walk through visitation will take place from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church Friday, May 21st, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm and Mass of Christian Burial at 6:00 pm.
Interment to follow at Mount Cecilia R.C. Cemetery.
In Mary’s memory donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice or flowers gratefully accepted.
