Mary Philomena Sutton
February 07, 1927 – August 23, 2021
Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on August 23, 2021, aged 94.
Predeceased by her husband Albert P. Sutton, parents Gertrude & William James, parents-in law Sarah & Patrick Sutton, brother Gus and step-brother George, sister Kate, two sons Clayton & Donald, son-in-law Kevin, grandson Rodney and great-great grandson Terrance.
Leaving to mourn one son Calvin, five daughters Marilyn (Freeman), Georgina (Joe), Joyce (Kevin deceased), Daphne (Wilf), Rosalind (Patrick, Eddie deceased), one daughter-in-law Margaret who was very special to her, her sister Collette and brother Ed, sisters-in-law Lucilla, Belle and Sue (deceased), and her 14 grand children, 26 great-grand children, 4 great-great grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, her cousin and good friend Irene Waddleton, her many pen pals and other friends and neighbours. Also, her caring support workers from Quality Home Care, especially Shirley Dean and Marg St.Croix who cared for her over the past few years. We also want to thank the Eastern Health staff, the ambulance attendants and the caring doctors and nurses at St. Clare’s.
In accordance with moms wishes cremation has taken place. Adhering to COVID-19 protocol and regulations visitation will be at Fahey’s Funeral home in Trepassey, on Tuesday, August 31st between 1 pm – 5 pm and 7pm – 9 pm with funeral mass from Holy Redeemer church at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 1st and burial at Holy Redeemer cemetery.
The family would like to thank everyone who has shown kindness to her and to us at this sad time. Special mention of Francis Coombs, Lucilla James, Gary & Colleen James who visited mom regularly during her illness.
Mom was a lover of flowers, so flowers will be gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Holy Redeemer Church fund or a charity of one’s choice.
