Martin’s Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we the family of the late Martin Clayton Harvey announce his peaceful passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Friday, December 10th, 2021 at the age of 91 years. Born in Port aux Basques, NL, Martin was the son of the late Edward Pike and Rosanna Harvey (nee Lawrence). He was also predeceased by his brothers; James, Willoughby, Frank, Tim, sisters; Lisa, Lanora, Queena, Beulah, Alma, Jeanette, Julia, and Katie.
Martin leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his loving wife of 64 years; Geraldine Harvey (nee Read), sons; Max (Donna) Harvey, Garry (Zondra) both of Port aux Basques, NL, John (Susan) Harvey of Corner Brook, NL, Craig (Joan) Harvey of Goose Bay, grandchildren; Byron (Anna Rose) Francis, Melanie (Marshall) Dominix, Raylene (David) Francis, Jillian (Greg) Harvey, Michael Harvey, Scott (Andrea) O’Brien, Sarah O’Brien, Rebecca Harvey, Sarah (William) Harvey, and Laura Harvey.
Martin also leaves behind his great-grandchildren; Max A., Aidan, Max D., Samantha, Tori, Brian, Haley, and William. Martin will forever remain in the hearts of his sister-in-law; Lorraine Anderson, good friend Johnny Lawrence who always took the time to visit and chat with him, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Martin loved his life and his family, he enjoyed wood working and salmon fishing. He was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces and serviced in the Korean War. One of the happiest times of his life was the birth of his first two grandchildren; Jillian and Michael. His love continued for the additional grandchildren. He will forever remain in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 12th, at 3 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church, Channel-Port aux Basques officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Due to the latest Government regulations your Newfoundland VaxPass, photo ID and masks are required for entry to the visitation and church service. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, TCH. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Martin’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 70 Ropewalk Lane, St. John’s, NL A1B 3R9.
