Marjorie Jamieson Thursday June 17th 2021 avis de deces

We are sad to note the passing of Marjorie Jamieson on June 17, 2021.
Those who encountered Marjie didn’t often forget her. Her personality was larger than life and she would often make you laugh out loud. As photo librarian at the Winnipeg Free Press for 38 years, Marjie was well-known in the organization and the industry. She loved her career at the Free Press until her retirement in 1996. She was a true character who embraced life and several times made the front page with her escapades. A strong woman of conviction, she battled hard for women’s rights and was an amazing role model for other women around her. She was always ready to help out a friend, and fought for those who couldn’t fight for themselves- animals in particular. Her home was always filled with the patter of little doggy feet, sometimes many of them. Marjie made fast friends of the neighbours in her community and the many young people with whom she shared her world. She was a mentor for many and could bring the “fun” to any situation.
Wilma, Marjorie’s closest friend, sister and partner in crime who also recently passed away, wrote the following obituary about Marjie.
“By refusing to go under in the onslaught of a life accident…. The soul emerges victorious” Gail Sheehy
Marjorie (or Marj) always managed to express joy on a dull day and had a lively sense of humor. She showed fortitude in adversity and walked her daily path with courage. She endured her pain with a positive attitude and, in spite of it, remembered to do things for others that would make their day easier. Marjorie was generous, kind, compassionate, honorable, and loyal. She strove mightily to learn to forgive those who wronged her. She had great love for family and was always there for them. She loved animals, in particular dogs and primates. Marjie worked all her life to complete worthwhile tasks every day. She took great satisfaction in her accomplishments and by her example was a great teacher to others who knew her well.
Her extended family and many friends and acquaintances will remember her always. It was great having you in our lives, we will miss you ‘till we meet again! Marjorie has chosen cremation and that there should not be a formal service.
A small family service will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Home where we will raise a glass of Pepsi to toast Marjie’s life.
Marjie is predeceased by her sister Wilma Bonnis, her brother Grant Jamieson and his wife Anne, and her parents Lena and Bob Jamieson. Surviving Marjie are her brothers George and Keith Jamieson, nieces Kelly Thomson (née Jamieson), Patty Jamieson-Bell, and Rebecca Savage (née Jamieson), nephews Peter Jamieson, Luke Jamieson, and Toby Jamieson, and great nieces and nephews Courtney Thomson, Max Thomson, Devin Stuart, Serena Stuart, Felix Jamieson, Jasper Jamieson, and Clementine Jamieson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Poseidon Care Centre for their dedicated and compassionate care during Marjie’s time there.
Donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Marjie’s memory.
