Mary Younice MOLLAN
1925 – 2021
In Memoriam:
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearest mother, Marion (Mary) Younice Mollan (nee Church) on October 22nd 2021, at the age of 96. With family at her bedside in Youville Home St Albert, AB, she was surrounded by love and passed peacefully.
Born in Blaine Lake Saskatchewan in 1925, she knew one room schools and horse-drawn transportation. She married Odd Mollan in 1943 and together in 1960 they would own and operate a rest home for the elderly in Vancouver BC. The 3 storey home she named Amber Lodge was originally known as the Morrisette Farm House and is a heritage site today. They would later own the Skyline Motel in Kamloops B.C. as well. Mary had an abiding love for family, gardening, travel trailers, dancing and entertaining.
Predeceased by her husband Odd, she would move from Kamloops to her apartment in Edmonton, AB to be near family. For another 26 years she would flourish there in large part due to the care and companionship of Dan Petherbridge.
Mary leaves behind her four children: Ron (Barb) Mollan, of Calgary AB., Shirley (Gordon) Lloyd of Creston, B.C., Brian (Toni) Mollan of St. Albert AB. and Heather (Michael) Brown of Carcross, YT.; sister Dorothy Saunders of Aggassiz B.C. as well as her most dearly loved 9 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr Kim Moshurchak, her GP, Dr. Labuick at Youville and Dr Carpenter at U. of A. Hospital as well as the aides and nursing staff at both sites for the care Mary received. In particular, the family wishes to recognize Rebecca Colborne, Nurse Practicioner at Youville Home, who was extremely compassionate to Mary and to family attending to her. We appreciated it so much.
A Memorial Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Connelly- McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, AB.
All Attendees will require photo ID and proof of Vaccination, or a Negative COVID- 19 test within 72 hours of service.
