Marie Katherine (Kendel) Wagner
Marie was born on December 6th, 1931 to Margaret (Becker) and Adolph Kendel at home on the family farm 2.5 miles south of Mac Nutt, Sask. She was the 9th of 10 children. She attended school in Mac Nutt, graduating from grade 10 after which she worked for her brother Howard at his cafe in Mac Nutt.
On June 30th, 1950 she married Roland Wagner in the Lutheran Church. Together they ran Wagner’s Garage (the family business which they took over in 1968) a General Motors dealership and Esso gas station.
Marie and Roland had three children: Hugh (1951), Sherry (1954) and Cindy (1960). Later they welcomed a daughter in law, Kelly Miner and two sons in law, Brian Kelly and Greg Grebinsky to their family.
Marie was very involved in the church and the community, joining ladies aid and working at sports days, dances, and bonspiels. Marie liked to cook and bake, (cabbage rolls and kuchen were her specialties). She also liked to crochet, knit, entertain friends and family, garden, camp, fish, curl, snowmobile, dance and travel.
In 1996 Marie and Roland moved to Saskatoon after Roland suffered a massive stoke in 1995 in Phoenix Arizona. Marie cared for Roland until his passing in 2002. During this time Marie volunteered at the Circle Drive Care Home, enjoyed setting picture puzzles, playing bingo, going to the casino, meeting her friends for coffee at Market Mall, singing in the church choir and spending time with her family.
Marie’s greatest joy is her grandchildren: Cori, Aidan(Ryan), Danika, and Samira(Kaishan) Wagner, Brent (Amy) Kelly, Jordan (Mike) Stilborn, and Carter(Abbey) Grebinsky and her great grandchildren : Liam and Kieran Kelly and Mckinley Stilborn.
Marie moved into Amy McClure House in December, 2020.
Maire passed away April 29th at St. Pauls hospital Saskatoon.
