Torresan, Marianne Elizabeth (nee Cowan)
It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of our daughter, Marnie, on the 24th of December, 2021, at Joseph Brant Hospital. We will always keep in our hearts and minds the lovely, kind, fun-loving Marnie that we all knew, before alcohol took control of her life, just a brief six years ago. Marnie had a plethora of friends, and she nurtured a wonderful family with many gestures and nuances that made a house a home. We will always remember the weekly Sunday night dinners, and the pool parties that she and Dave hosted each week. Christmas Eve was a very special day for Marnie, and the family was warmly welcomed to the Torresan home each year. Florida was another favourite of hers. Many happy and fun-filled vacations were spent in Orlando, the more family and friends with her, the better. Marnie loved company.
Marnie was a foster mother for thirteen years with the Burlington and Hamilton CAS. When she retired from fostering, she joined Mohawk College as an instructor of computer programming.
Marnie will be greatly missed by her parents, Nancy and Norm Brunton, by her children: Drew, Matt, Braden and Ava, by her brother, Brad Cowan and her nephew, Carter. She will be deeply missed by her Uncle Dave Slemon, (Arlene, Jenny and Ashton), and by her dear friend, Tony Patzalek.
She will be fondly remembered by the extended Torresan family, by the Scott family, (Uncle Tom, Lynn, Megg and Molly), by the Robertson family, (Julie and Carolyn), and by her scores of friends, many friendships nurtured since kindergarten, Kristen, René and Andrea.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid, we plan to have a Celebration of Life in the spring of 2022.
