Obituary for
Maria Bahniuk
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother on Thursday October 7, 2021, at the age of 95.
Maria was born in Uhniv Ukraine to Ahafia and Emil Werner on Nov. 27,1925. She worked as an Assistant Teacher and thoroughly enjoyed the children in the Bi-Lingual Program. Maria volunteered at the Ukrainian Youth Unity Centre, CYM, Verkovyna choir and various Ukrainian organizations.
Maria is survived by her children, Bohdan (Hanya), Roma (Bob) Martiuk, Andrew and Teresa (Rod) Klimchuk; grandchildren, Andrea (Jay) Mazzotta, Danylo Martiuk, Zoriya (Shane) Splawski, Markian (Kate) Bahniuk, Daria Bahniuk, Stephanie Bahniuk, Melanie Bahniuk, Brittany Klimchuk, and Nicole Klimchuk; great-grandchildren, Elia and Gabriel Mazzotta, Charlotte Martiuk and Luca Bahniuk. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wasyl, sister, brothers, and parents.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. Michael’s Long Term Care Centre, especially the First Floor Red Unit for the compassionate care given.
Funeral Service will be held Friday Oct.15,2021 at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral. Unfortunately, due to Covid, attendance is limited to invited family. To view the livestream of the service please visit click on Webcasting on Maria’s Book of Memories.
Interment will be at approximately 11:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Cemetery, section 34. Everyone is welcome to attend there.
