JACINTO, Maria Da Luz (LEAL) September 25, 1933 – November 12, 2021
Maria Da Luz Jacinto, affectionately known as Vo Luz, spent her final days in the company of her loving daughters and family. She left this world peacefully at the age of 88 to be reunited with her late husband Carlos Da Silva Jacinto. She was the much-loved mother of Maria (Norberto Lopes) and Ivone (Tony Coelho) and sister of Natalia Henriques (Antonio Henriques). She was blessed with 4 grandchildren Armando (Emily), Monique (Nick), Sarah (James) and Daniel (Stephanie) and 5 great-grandchildren (Penelope, Sofia, Scotty, Parker and Jacob). She is also sadly missed by her nieces, extended family and friends.
Maria Da Luz was an active member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and dedicated her time to helping others and volunteering in several long-term health care homes. Her family was her greatest love and passion on this earth, and she will be remembered for her strength, kindness, selflessness and faith. We hold dearly all the memories and lifelong lessons she offered us. As the matriarch of our family, she will be truly missed, but her spirit and light will live on in everyone she touched.
Vo Luz was an angel on earth.
Family and friends will be received at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin Street, south of Lawrence Avenue) on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Angels Church on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Prospect Cemetery.
