It is with profound sadness that Maria’s family announces her death on Monday, November 1st. 2021 at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus. Maria was the beloved wife of Cecil Harry Croxson (deceased). Mum/Mom was deeply loved, and will be tremendously missed, by her daughter Josephina (José) Weatherhead (Robin Edghill) and her son Dr. Louis Weatherhead (Sylvia). Maria adored her grandsons Jonathan (Kaitlynne-Rae), Michael (Ani) and Christopher (Jenna). And they treasured their DouDou!
Maria was born in Belgium and her experiences during WWII left her with an uncanny ability of discerning the character of others. She had a passion for music – inherited by Louis. She always told us that she had had a wonderful life, in Barbados as a young mother, in the U.K. with Cecil and in Ottawa with her children and grandchildren. Maria will be deeply missed by her family in Belgium, Barbados and Canada, her friends worldwide and her carers Alandra and Catherine. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the nurses and doctors on 5 North-West and 5 East of TOH, General Campus, for the compassionate care given to our mother/grandmother.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Liturgy of the Word at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, (at O’Connor), Ottawa on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 3:00p.m. The family will receive condolences following the Liturgy.
Following Covid protocol, the family has requested that attendance be only available to fully vaccinated guests.
