Maria Angeles de los Angeles-Aragon Tuesday September 21 2021

ARAGON de AMARO, MARIA de LOS ANGELES:
Peacefully, in the arms of her daughter, and after much pain and suffering during a lengthy struggle, Maria «Angeles» Aragon of Bayfield, passed away into the peace and freedom from suffering in the arms of her dear Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ in The Huron Residential Hospice, Clinton on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, in her 91st year. Loving mother of daughter Sofia Amaro-Elliott (DeWayne Elliott) of Bayfield, son Pedro Amaro (Gabriela) of San Jose del Cabo Mexico, son Ernesto Amaro (Irene) of The Hague, The Netherlands, and son Joaquin Amaro (Laura) of Guadalajara, Mexico. Revered and loved deeply by her nine grandchildren, Erin Elliott (Cillian Costigan) of Sligo Ireland, Alain Elliott of Toronto, Pedro Amaro Jr. of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, Tatiana Amaro of Guadalajara, Mexico, Alejandra Amaro (Seth Hiland) of Ithaca, NY, Roseanne Valenzuela (Brian) of San Diego, CA, Chris Amaro of Long Beach CA, Leonor Amaro, Guadalajara, Mexico and Joaquin Amaro Jr. of Mexico City, Mexico. Also cherished by four great grandchildren, Ainsley and Brynne, of Ithaca and Matias and Andres of San Diego. Dear sister of Josefina («Guera») Gonzales and Maria de Jesus («Tutuy») Ibinarriaga, both of Mexico City, Alfonso («Poncho») Aragon of Monterrey, Mexico and Carlos Aragon of Ensenada, Mexico. Predeceased by her parents, Josefina and Salvador Aragon, by her husband General Ernesto Amaro, and by two brothers, Salvador «Chaba» Aragon and Emigdio «Millo» Aragon.
After providing a loving home for her four children, and upon the death of her husband after 51 years of marriage, Angeles came to Canada to live with Sofia, DeWayne, Erin and Alain in Mississauga. She quickly adapted to the new culture, expanded her ability to speak English, and became the center of the home for Erin and Alain who found in her a refuge, a mentor and a teacher who instilled in them a love of their Mexican heritage and culture. Angeles gave a profound and abiding love to her family in Canada, that included her adopted extended family, the Elliotts. Ida & Ken, Reid & Melanie, Alice & Lyla, Ryan & Becca, Sage & Xavier. She still maintained a frequent and fully informed connection with all of her sons and grandchildren via her acquired and skillful use of her beloved iPad. In fact, love of family, whether sons, daughter, grandchildren or siblings and no matter where they lived, was without question the single most enduring trait of her character throughout her life. Her pastimes included sewing, reading her bible and her devotions every day of her life, taking ESL lessons at a nearby school and her soap operas, always accompanied by her companion pets, Lancer and Lucy, who were content to sleep at her feet every day.
Angeles fought the battle of a heart condition and diabetes throughout her life but through it all never complained, never mentioned any thought of herself over anyone else. In fact, if anyone who knew her were asked, they would say her compassion for others and her simple acceptance of life and its challenges and sorrows were her two most endearing traits. She will be missed frequently and fervently so greatly that her passing has left all of us with deep and enduring pain that will not depart readily.
Friends and family will be welcomed at a visitation between 11:30 and 1:00pm, followed by a funeral Mass, open to all, at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 North St., Goderich, Ont. on Saturday, September 25th, 2021. Current Covid-19 protocols of mask wearing and social distancing will be in effect at the church. Contact tracing information will be required upon entry.
As expressions of sympathy, donations are requested to be sent, in lieu of flowers, to The Huron Residential Hospice, 98 Shipley St, Clinton, Ont. or to the Alexandra Marine & General Hospital Foundation, 120 Napier St. Goderich, Ont. Donations may be placed through the Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton, Ont.
