Obituary of Lucille Gloria McDonald
McDonald: Lucille
At home with her loving husband Christopher (married 55 years) and her beloved dog Daisy close by, Lucille McDonald passed away peacefully on the morning of September 8, 2021, at the age of 88.
Lucille lived life to the fullest in every way. She was an avid and skilled team player for a number of years at the Gananoque Curling Club; she loved her church community and was a very active member of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian congregation; she played Bridge every week with a group of wonderful, lively women; and in the early days of the COVID-19 Pandemic, she instigated a nightly physically-distanced gathering among neighbours on the street where she and Christopher have lived for the past twenty years. But Lucille was perhaps best known for her incredible Demonstration Rose Garden – a stunning display of 100s of different varieties and the reason behind her winning trophies and ribbons several years in a row at the Gananoque Horticultural shows.
Lucille has been a dedicated, committed and loving parent, raising two children – Mona-Louise Kenny (Larry) and David Lemmon (Betty) – and took her job as Grandmother extremely seriously with her beautiful grandchildren Samantha and Emma Kenny, who will forever miss her loving and devoted presence.
Lucille is predeceased by her brother Peter (EC) and sister Gloria and will be deeply missed by her siblings Sid (Shirl), Armand, Chuck (Debbie), Claudette and Roger and sister-in-law, Mary Rhodes.
Those who knew Lucille would say she was a force to be reckoned with, someone who gave a hundred per cent to whatever activity she engaged in and a person who made an impression on those she touched. We shall miss you terribly but will forever keep you in our hearts. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Gananoque and District Humane Society or to the Gananoque Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
