Surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren, Lucille at the age of 80 peacefully passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Extendicare Timmins reuniting with her beloved husband, Conrad of 53 years. She will sadly be missed by her children, Robert Carrière and Suzanne (Michel) Cardinal and her grandchildren, Julie (Allison), Junior, Joël (Shannie), Tanya (Tyler) and James as well as her great grandchildren Zachary, Blakelie, Rory, Kaliyana, Haisley, Victoria and Evalie. She is predeceased by her parents Eugene and Béatrice (née Vaillancourt) Lamarche and is survived by her sister-in-law, Winnifred Lamarche. Also predeceased by her brothers, Edgar (late Faye), Hervé (late Stella) Robert and her sister, Jeannine Lévesque (late Roger) and her infant sister Cécile, and by her brothers-in-law Alcide (late Roma), Leo, Raymond, Eddie (late Raymonde), Roger (late Annette) and her sisters-in-law Laurenza (late Benjamin), Aldea (late Royal), Marie-Jeanne (late Neil), Simone (late Allen), Florence (late Armand), Jacqueline (late Conrad) and Rita (late Sylvio).
Lucille was well known in the community for her involvement with many organizations. Together with Conrad they owned and operated several retail businesses such as The Pop Shoppe, Riverpark Golden Crust Bakery, Melrose Variety, Mama Lu’s and The Brewing Experience.
Lucille along with Conrad were also known as successful political campaign organizers which over the years brought them much joy and longstanding friendships. Her political skills earned her the beloved nickname of “Sergeant Major” as no one could mobilize people and get the job done like she could.
Lucille’s biggest success will always be the love she had for her family and friends and her home was always open to all who came.
Lucille’s most cherished years were spent loving and caring for her precious grandchildren and the best part of having her as our mother was that our children had her as their grandmother and a perfect “Memère” she truly was.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. DiTullio and everyone at Extendicare Timmins, especially the Pearl Lake section who lovingly and compassionately cared for her. You are indeed angels among us!
Funeral service will be held at Paroisse St-Joseph on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 1:30 pm. Interment at Timmins Memorial Cemetery will follow. Remembrance donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Paroisse St-Joseph would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home.
