Lois’ Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family of the late Lois Virginia Vautier announce her passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Sunday, May 30th, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Lois was the daughter of the late Hubert and Minnie Anderson (nee Stone). She was also predeceased by her husband; Chesley Vautier, brothers; Manasseh (Nancy) Anderson, Reginald (Mary) Anderson, son-in-law; Gary Walters, sisters-in-law; Sharon Anderson, Loretta Vautier, father and mother-in-law; John and Adelaide Vautier, brothers-in-law; Walter Vautier, Albert Bond, sisters-in-law; Carrie (Maxwell) Stone, Mildred (Jack) King, Amy Riles, and Kathleen (Jack) LeRiche.
Lois leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her loving daughters; Delores Walters, Nina (Larry) Meade, Joan (Paul) Vautier/Comeau, grandchildren; Chesley, Randy (Dana), Daisy (Steven), Sheldon (Catrina), great-grandchildren; Roman, Kye, sister; Vida (Wayne) Schwartz, brother; Aubrey (Mary) Anderson, sisters-in-law; Edna Vautier, Susan Thorne, Sybil (Gerald) King, brothers-in-law; Maxwell (Clara) Vautier, Hubert (Shirley) Vautier, Gerald (Debbie) Vautier, and Gilbert Riles plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Lois had an unfailing faith in God. She viewed life’s challenges as God’s plan which had to be left in His hands. Lois cared unselfishly for her family and others. For several years, she took care of her ailing parents and later cared for her husband, Chesley, when he developed Alzheimer’s. Even then, she would make the time and would be happy to hem a pair of pants for a son in law, bake a pie for a brother, or prepare a meal for one of her daughters.
Needlework was one of her many talents. Be it sewing or knitting, throughout her life, Lois spent many hours preparing costumes for grandchildren, repairing zippers on coats, pearling and casting-on wool for trigger mitts or patch-working quilts for family members.
Lois loved having her family over for Sunday dinner and special holiday meals. Every detail mattered. Baked puddings, fluffy dumplings and a perfect crust for a Bakeapple Cheesecake were an expectation she put on herself. While humble by nature, everything she did had to be done “right”.
Lois doted and loved her four grandchildren: Chesley, Randy, Daisy and Sheldon. She would have gone to the moon and back for them. Two years ago, Lois became a great grandmother of two precious little boys, Roman and Kye. Her eyes sparkled when she was with them and held them in her arms.
Mom was the heart of the family and worked tirelessly to care for our well-being. Words cannot express how much we will miss her. Although apart for the time being, we will feel a little closer when we tuck in at night under one of her patchwork quilts.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1st from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 2nd at 2:00 p.m. from East Haven Funeral Home Inc officiated by Linda Anderson. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted and donations in Lois’ memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
