Linda Noreen Mayer
Linda Noreen Mayer, resident of Huallen, AB, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, in Beaverlodge, AB, at the age of 65 years and went to be with her saviour, Jesus Christ.
Linda was born July 22, 1955, to John and Doreen Mayer in Beaverlodge. As a young girl, she loved living on the farm near many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She attended school in Beaverlodge and went on to be a cook for a living in numerous places, one of which was Cold Lake, AB, cooking for the Military. While there she met her husband and best friend David Launey, they would return to live in the Huallen area until her passing. Linda also worked for the county of Grande Prairie, AB, as a homecare aide for several years.
Linda enjoyed music and started singing at an early age. Her brother, sister and cousins sang as a group called the Country Cousins. Later in life, she desired to record a CD with them and her desire was fulfilled. Linda also enjoyed doing artwork and writing stories. She wrote a children’s book, and her second book, about stories from her youth, will be published soon. Another love of Linda’s was gardening, and she was involved in the Wembley Gardening Club and also the Wembley Historical Society.
Linda will be sadly missed by her husband David Launey; sister Kay (Dan) Rawlyk; brother John (Judy) Mayer; nieces and nephews: Dan (Teresa) Rawlyk, Mitchell (Candace) Rawlyk, Kathy (Jamie) Best, Derek Mayer, Jordan (Jill) Mayer, Jared (Hope) Mayer, and families; as well as David’s parents Henry and Beverly Launey from Nova Scotia; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Linda was predeceased by her parents John and Doreen Mayer; grandparents: Clifford and Ella-Mae Aldred, John and Katherine Mayer; nephew Steven Rawlyk; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Linda’s family would like to thank Dr. Presley, and hospital staff for all your compassionate care for her while she was in the hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 10:00am at St. Johns Lutheran Church, in Wembley, AB (Directions: Highway 43 West of Wembley to Range Road 91, then 2 miles South).
Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society AB/NWT Division (200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5), or to a charity of one’s choice.
