Obituary For Leonard Andrew Gaboury
Leonard Andrew Gaboury passed away at 1 East Mackenzie Place, Grande Prairie, AB on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the age of 87 years.
Leonard was born in Rosthern, SK to Edmond and Delia Gaboury on August 11, 1934. In 1940 Leonard moved with his family to the Fitzsimmons district (north of Bezanson) where he grew up on the family farm and attended school. In 1955 the family moved to Grande Prairie where he resided until his passing. Leonard worked at a concrete plant for many years and later helped build the NorthStar Refinery. Farming was a large part of his life as he dedicated many hours to his homestead near Sunset House. His interest in country music, old cars, tractors and farm equipment continued to be his passion throughout his life. Leonard’s sharp mind, memory and story telling abilities provided family and friends with endless informative discussions and stories of days gone by and were loved by all who had the pleasure to hear them.
Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his brother in-law Ignaces Makrocki, 23 nieces and nephews along with their families.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents Edmond and Delia, sisters Florence Fitchett, Doris Makrocki, and Yvonne Mitchell, brother Raymond Gaboury, brother in-laws Joe Fitchett and Don Mitchell and sister in-law Lillian Gaboury as well as nephews Terry Thompson, Joey Mitchell and Melvin Gaboury.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (11101 84 Avenue in Grande Prairie, Alberta). The Gaboury family invites you to join them at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie, Alberta) for a time of fellowship following Leonard’s service.
