Obituary for Lawrence Edward Williams
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larry on August 30, 2021, at the age of 81. Born on October 23, 1939 in Hamilton, Ontario to Bernice (Boyle) and Edward Williams (predeceased). Beloved husband to his late wife, Mary. Devoted father to Ed (Maggie), late Rick (Brenda), Kim (Scott), and Andy (late Judy). Honourable grandfather to Nick, Jenn, Denise, Matthew, Dylan, Jake, Cassie and Hope, who brought his greatest joy into his life, Hazel. Living with her lit up his whole world in his battle with Dementia. He will be deeply missed by his great-grandchildren and his many friends. Larry will be immensely missed by his sister-in-law Margaret and nephews Patrick Robb, David Zember and many great nieces and nephews.
Larry was a family man. His whole world spun for his children and everyone knew how much he adored the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Larry never met a stranger. Everyone he met was a friend. Larry will be remembered for his contagious smile and selfless heart. Larry was the “life of the party”, he always knew how to have a good time and left his mark on every one he met. He truly had a heart of gold.
Larry is fondly admired and remembered for his hard work in the grocery industry. He began his career, working his way up the ladder at Dominion Stores, followed by Astro Variety, IGA and The Barn where he worked as Store Manager until retirement. Larry loved to play and coached his children in hockey, he passed along his love for the sport through generations. Nothing made him happier than to see the people he loved smiling.
“We think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched. For nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.”
As per Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private family arrangements have been made. There will be a celebration of life in Larry’s honour at a later date.
A special thank you to St. Joseph’s Hospital and to Willowgrove Nursing Home for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated.
