Lawrence Atfield Wright January 1st 1929 October 15th 2021 avis de deces

« Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine. Go enjoy your life, and laugh. When you laugh, the whole world laughs with you. »
Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Friday, October 15, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Lawrence Atfield Wright passed away at the age of 92. Lawrence is reunited with his wife Diana, his son Philip and his special friend Bev. Loving father of Jacqueline (Paul) Nield and father-in-law of Linda. Cherished grandfather of Cheryl (Jeff), Brad (Kristen), David and Megan (Matt). Treasured great-grandfather of Eleanor, Lennon and Walker. Survived by his extended family and many friends and neighbours who always looked out for him.
Lawrence lived an amazing life. He experienced more in his first 20 years than many do in a lifetime. But his life really began when he immigrated to Canada with his wife, Diana, and her family. Once here, he took his passion for horticulture and turned it into an amazing career, both with the city of Sarnia and the St Clair Parkway. He designed many of the beautiful parks in the area, and also helped design and build the Children’s Animal Farm in Canatara Park. His talents didn’t stop there. He was a talented artist, an award winning wood carver, an excellent singer, and an amazing organ player. He also loved to travel, and spent many wonderful winters in Panama City Beach, Florida. But most importantly, he was the best father, grandfather and great grandfather anyone could ask for. He always had a giggle in his smile and a bounce in his step. He touched many lives and left many memories. A special thanks all the girls at Dr. Peterson’s office and London Road LifeLabs for making his weekly visits enjoyable. He truly loved you all. And to his many doctors, including Dr. Blake whom he loved chatting with. Also, a big thank you to Dr. MacSweeney and all the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for making his final days comfortable. Cremation has taken place. At Lawrence’s request, no services will be held. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St Joseph’s Hospice (personal care), or the Kidney Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
