Laura June
McLellan – 87, Bible
Hill. With broken hearts we wish to announce that our mother has
joined our father in Heaven, exactly one month to the day of
Dad’s passing. Our parents were the definition of true,
unconditional love and now their souls are together for eternity. This
brings to their children a great sense of loss, but also peace as we
always knew one could not go on without the other, and that neither is
suffering anymore.
Left on earth to always love and celebrate them are their
children, Bev MacDonald (Bruce), Doug McLellan (Jo-Anne), Jackie
McLellan (Stuart Anderson), Michelle Green (Perry); grandchildren,
Christine Sullivan, Clifford MacDonald, Cassie MacKenzie, Ethan Green;
ten great grandchildren.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lewguine McLellan;
parents, Clarence and Leta Baxter and Frank and Marguerite Baxter;
grandparents, Hibbert and Laura Baxter who raised Mom at the beginning
of her wonderful life; sister, Gloria Lyon; brothers-in-law, Boyd
Taylor, Jim Caldwell, Gerald Barker.
Mom had so much love to give and was fortunate to have an
immediate and extended family, and she loved them all dearly. During
the last weeks in the hospital, Mom told many stories of growing up
and all her siblings; she was so very proud of them all. Mom is also
survived by her siblings, Glenna Barker, Joyce Taylor, Beatrice
Caldwell, Wayne Baxter (Judy), Grant Baxter (Anna), Graham Baxter
(Anna), Wilfred Baxter (Anneliese), Sharon Gartland (Ken), Debbie
Stevens (Art).
Anyone who knew Mom would know that she was one of a kind.
She loved sewing, knitting and making crafts; she could make anything
that she put her mind to. She was a great cook and LOVED feeding
everyone. Her kindness to others, unselfishness and love for her
family and friends was her whole world. Right to the very end, Mom was
worried about everyone else and not herself.
She loved our father with all her heart and missed him
terribly after he passed in November. Mom’s strength and
faith helped her through her illness and we have comfort that Mom is
not in pain anymore.
We want to thank Vivian Ettinger and Marty Ettinger for
helping us through not only Mom’s death, but also
Dad’s. We would not have been able to do it without you
both. Also, we would like to thank the Emergency Department at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, E Wing nurses, Dr. Rowe, Dr.
Henderson and especially Dr. Bauld. Such empathy was shown to our
family by you all, and we are forever grateful.
We will be holding a combined graveside service and burial at
a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura’s
memory to Kidney Foundation Atlantic (Truro Chapter) are
welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of
condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Laura’s
obituary on-line and selecting « Send A Condolence » at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
A heart that’s broken
is a heart that’s been loved. You were an angel in the shape
of my Mom. When I fell down, you’d be there holding me up.
Spread your wings as you go, and when God takes you back,
he’ll say « Hallelujah, you’re
home. »
