Death Notice
It is with great sadness that the family of Laszlo (Les) Bencze announces his passing in London, Ontario on Friday, June 18, 2021, in his 87th year. Les was a loving, caring and selfless husband, father and nagypapa. He will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege to know him.
Les was born in Zelickislak, Hungary on November 12, 1934 to the late Julianna Schlitt and Karoly Bencze, and brother of the late Endre Bencze and Magdolna Magyar. In November of 1956 Les left Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution and arrived in Canada in June of 1957. After arriving in London, Les met and married the love of his life, his wife Martha of 57 years. Together they had two daughters, Sylvia Drummond (Douglas) and Cindy Wasner (Arthur), who were his ultimate pride and joy.
An employee of Bell Canada for 35 years, Les spent his retirement escaping the cold winters in Florida with Martha. In the summers, they shared their love of gardening with their grandchildren, Kirstin, Christopher, Benjamin, Holden, Nicholas, and Emily. All of whom will always remember their days in the garden with their papa.
A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 23, 2021 at the Harris Funeral Home, London, with Father Deak presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in memory of Les to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
