With heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother Kevin Bennett who passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at Chancellor Park, St. John’s on Saturday, August 21st.
Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Martha (McCue) Bennett; father and mother in law Albert and Anastasia (Ryan) Molloy; brothers Stan, John, Tony, Patrick, and Vince; sisters in law Brenda and Marie; brother in law Leo and good friend Pad O’Brien.
Leaving to mourn & cherish the many wonderful memories of his life are his devoted wife of 48 years, Anne (Molloy) Bennett; his 2 loving children, Barry (Catherine) and Trina (Neal); the biggest joy in his life, his 4 grandchildren, Abby, Ben (aka “His Little Buddy”), Gracie, and Lauren.
He is also survived by his siblings Tom (Rose Mary), Irene, Bob (Philomena), Don, Ambrose, Mike, Agnes (Art); his in laws Belle, Bernice, Anne Marie, Shirley , Bertha, Donna, Valerie and Garry; a large number of nieces and nephews and many friends both old and new. Special mention to his dear friend of 40 years Tom Mackey and home care worker Gloria Hewitt, both of whom were always there for dad.
Dad was the life of any party and always loved being surrounded by people, especially his family. Whether it be a good sing-a-long, a fast 2 step, a game of poker or just a chat on the phone. He was a happy go lucky guy, who always had a twinkle in his eye and was known to all for his infectious smile.
A very heart felt thank you to the wonderful staff at both Dialysis Units on Topsail Road and St. Clares Mercy Hospital. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten. As well as, the wonderful folks at Alderwood Retirement Home, who made the last 8 months of Dad’s life as memorable as they were.
Dad will be resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home in Trepassey on Tuesday, August 24th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm, and Wednesday, August 25th from 1-5pm and 7-9pm.
The funeral mass will take place at 11am on Thursday August 26th at Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will follow at the New Cemetery in Trepassey.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to Holy Redeemer Parish.
We think of you as living
In the hearts of those you touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And you were loved so much ….
