Judy Ann Carlson (Lowe) passed away peacefully in her home in Vernon on March 22 with Dale, Kelby & Keaton by her side at the age of 60 years old. Judy was born on July 24, 1960 in the Beaverlodge hospital to Annie and Allen Lowe and was the fourth of six of “The Lowe Girls”. She grew up at the Lowe farm just out of Beaverlodge and had a wonderful childhood with lots of friends, family and adventures. Upon graduating high School, Judy moved to Grande Prairie where, not long after, she met her wonderful Dale. The two of them were smitten right from the beginning and were best friends and partners throughout their 42 years spent together. In addition to Dale, Judy had many passions, with her greatest being sports and friends. She was an incredible athlete and in addition to participating in many school and individual sports, she actually became an elite athlete when she became a member of the Canadian National Luge team in the early 80’s. Judy competed throughout the world for a few years before she moved onto other ventures, with the highlights being becoming a mom to Kelby in 1989 and Keaton in 1992. In addition to Dale, these two humans became the centre of Judy’s world and she is the centre of theirs. Judy has always valued her family and friends above anything and was the brightest light and hottest firecracker in the room. She has always made everyone who had the privilege of being around her of feeling that they are the most important person. Her laugh and shenanigans were infectious and fabulous. She simply was the absolutely most amazing person and our hearts break that we are not with her anymore. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Allen & Annie Lowe, her brother-in-law, Dennis Hotte and father-in-law John Carlson. Judy leaves behind her very much-loved Dale, and two children Kelby (Denis) Koenig and son Keaton (Anna Lengstrand). Without minimizing anyone else, the largest shining light over the past five years, her wonderful little grandson Kayden, son of Kelby and Denis will also be missing his Nana. Judy also leaves the rest of the Lowe Girls, Cheryl Lowe, Donna (Jim) Hartum, Denise Hotte, Erin (Wayne) Vig and Wendy (Lee) Tindall and her in-laws, Laura Carlson, Josh (Karen) Carlson, Greg (Xiu Ying) Carlson, Jordie (Susan) Carlson, Gaylia (David) Lassner as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many, many friends. Celebration of Life will take place at Judy and Dale’s home in Vernon on Friday, March 26 at 4:30 PM and a larger event will be planned to celebrate our Judy at a later date. Donations can be made in Judy’s honour to the Alberta Cancer Society.
