Obituary
Judi A. Swain
1966 – 2021
It is with profound sadness that the family of Judi Ann Swain of Miramichi, NB, announce her passing at the George Dumont Hospital on June 21, 2021. She passed in peace with her family by her side.
Judi is predeceased by her father; Albert Fowlie, her paternal grandparents; Laura and James Fowlie, and maternal grandparents; Andrew and Helen Lease. Judi is greatly missed and will always be remembered by her mother, Rosemary Fowlie of Black River, NB; sisters: Faye MacDonald (Donny) of Black River, NB, and Lynda Wright (Sean) of Stratford, ON; her partner, Donald Rioux of Campbellton, NB; three daughters: Terri Swain of Miramichi, NB, Laura Gibbs (Jamie) of Miramichi, NB, Jenna Burns (Michael) of Miramichi, NB; as well as five grandchildren: Cash, Kingston, Walker, Flynn, and Ben.
Judi was born in Stratford Ontario on December 22nd, 1966, before moving to Black River where she lived near farms, surrounded by animals. She retained that love of animals her whole life and would be the first to stop traffic for an injured animal, feed a stray, or take care of a family of crows. She eventually settled in the Miramichi as an adult, where she raised three daughters, and was a best friend to each of them.
While raising her daughters she operated an at-home daycare for a number of years. Her love and understanding of children made her a wonderful caretaker and a lasting role model for many children. Later on Judi worked at Scotia Bank in Miramichi, easily making friends with co-workers and anyone who came in the door.
Judi was one of a kind. She was always ready for an adventure. She loved road trips with her girls and overnight trips with her grandchildren. She would do anything for her family. She would drop everything to help in any way she could, from simply being a kind listener and giving sound advice to tackling any home renovation projects no matter the size or scale. She was intimidated by nothing.
Judi was a person whose presence and capacity for love cannot be summed up in words. She was a steady figure in the lives of so many people and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to meet and spend time with her. She was kind to everyone and cherished fairness, love, and family above all. She loved her daughters and grandchildren more than anything in the world and loved nothing more than having everyone together for a meal or a swim on a hot summer day. Those times together will be cherished by her family forever.
All family and friends attended a funeral service that was held for Judi at St. Stephen’s United Church on July 2nd, 2021, at 11AM with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Music for the service was provided by Mike Davis and the songs were: « Hallelujah », « You Raise Me Up », and « The Dance ». Scripture readings were read by Michael Burns. The eulogy was presented by Jenna Burns. Interment was held in Black River Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charity would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone (506) 773-3492, or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
