Joseph Lawrence MacDonald Monday June 7th 2021 avis de deces

MacDonald, Joseph
With sadness we announce that our father, Joseph Lawrence MacDonald, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Innisfree House. Joe (Larry) left us peacefully with the music of Cape Breton to carry him home.
Beloved husband for 51 years of the late Joan (nee Dowdall – 2017).
Loving father of Lisa Allen (the late Craig – 2017) and Kristi Hall (Derek Charbonneau). Much loved Grandpa to Kaitlyn (Andrew Huber ), Matthew (Tonisha Lewis) and Jenna Allen. Kassidy and Carley Hall and their father Chris Hall. Beloved friend of Sylvia Hall.
Dear brother of Donald (Linda) and Paul (Michelle) and brother-in-law of Maureen (the late Harvey MacDonald) and Margaret (the late David MacDonald).
Joe will also be missed and remembered by Joan’s family, John (Joanne), Terry Smydo (Eddie), Carol Rogler (the late John), Sharon Moniham (Gerald), Betty Giles (Don), Roger Dowdall (the late Robert Génier) and Shawnna Williams (Rick).
Predeceased by sister-in-law Fern MacDonald and Joan’s siblings and spouses Marie Quinn (Frank), Leo Dowdall (Elaine) and Jim Dowdall (Linda).
Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and life long friends.
Joe started as a cadet on the Kitchener Police Service in 1963 and retired in 1998 as Superintendent of the Waterloo Regional Police Service after 35 years of service to the community. During his career Joe collaborated with Police Services throughout Ontario and extending across North America. Joe always focused on doing the right thing. He served on a number of community boards over the years and was an avid volunteer for many different organizations including his involvement as a member of the Kitchener Westmount Rotary Club. Joe kept active all his life and loved being a goalie with the Kitchener Oldtimers until heart surgery forced him to retire in 2018. While no longer on the ice, friendships formed over the decades continued to be an important part of his life. Joe was grateful for the program of Alcoholics Anonymous where he was a member for more than 30 years. The most important part of his life was his family and we will miss him greatly.
Joe’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 11, 2021 and Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
