Johnson, Roger James
June 2, 1948 – December 9, 2020
Roger Johnson, the eldest son of the late Isabel (nee Brown) and John Johnson of Thornbury, passed peacefully December 9, 2020 at the Newmarket Health Centre in his 73rd year.
He was the cherished partner of Gail Langley, proud father of Susan (Greg) Schope and Steven (Amy) Johnson, and a loving grandfather to Tyler, Abigail, Victoria, Sarah and Elliot.
Roger was the dear brother of Malcolm Johnson of Meaford and formerly of Thornbury. Roger was an educated man who, soon after graduating from Ryerson University in Toronto, began what became a very successful career in sales at McLeish Containers. He was an avid sports fan and one could always find him watching ‘the game’. He never turned away the opportunity to be on the hockey bench with his son.
Roger was a dedicated father, a loyal friend and always left a lasting impression on those he encountered. He will be remembered fondly by all those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life and, although the years were not as full as one would hope for, the memories of Roger will live on in all that loved him,
Due to current Covid 19 restrictions, a small family service will be conducted on Saturday October 2, 2021 followed by a committal and interment of his cremated remains at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery. Masks are required and all Covid regulations shall apply.
