It is with tremendous sadness that the family of John “Johann Baptist” Peterer announces his sudden passing at home on November 12, 2021. He was loved and cherished by his wife of 52 years, Lois; his daughters, Janey (Greg) and Nicole (Merritt); and his beloved grandchildren, Grace, Joshua, Brady, and Max. He was born in Appenzell, Switzerland on June 12, 1940 and immigrated to Canada in 1965.
He is survived by nine of his siblings in Switzerland and their families, as well as his wife’s siblings and their families here in Canada. John was predeceased by his mother, Therese , his father, Jakob , and his eldest brother.
He trained as a chef in Switzerland and built a career in the culinary arts in both countries. John’s fondest memories were spending time with his family at Betula Lake.
His hard work and attention to detail was reflected in everything he did.
John’s impact on his family and friends is lasting and profound. We will miss him dearly.
Rest in peace, John, and may light perpetual shine upon you.
