Obituary for John « Jack » Ross Marshall
Peacefully on Saturday, February 27 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 93. Survived by his partner Matty, and his grandsons Mark and Barry (Beth), and great-grandson Ewan and his sister Rita, and many relatives in Scotland. Lovingly remembered by Matty’s children Jane (Ken), Stuart and Valerie (Sylvain), and grandchildren Kristen, Spencer, Adam and Amy. Pre-deceased by his wife Jean and her children Bill (Ann) and Moira, as well as his sister Muriel, and brother Finlay.
Jack was born in Leith, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1949, settling in Dundas, ON. Jack worked in the furniture and antique businesses for many years before retiring. Jack was a member of the Dundas Granite Curling Club for many years and enjoyed lawn bowling and golf. Following Jean’s passing, Jack met Matty and although he had moved to Cambridge, he often returned to have a beer with the boys at the Dundas Legion (Branch 36) where he was a member for almost 50 years. When Jack was no longer able to golf or curl, he loved to watch sports, particularly his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
At Jack’s request, there will be no funeral and cremation has taken place.
A special thank you to the staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for taking such good care of Jack over the last several weeks and to the Circle of Life for taking care of final arrangements.
