John Charles Hamil passed away suddenly at home in Burlington on August 19, 2021 at the age of 73. He will forever be missed, and always remembered, by his wife of 52 years, Kaye (Walsh), son Brian (Amanda), and daughter Denise (Ron Phillips). He was a proud Papa to his grandchildren Cole, Rebecca and Jackson. John leaves behind his sister Lela (Joyes) and is predeceased by his parents Jack and Irene (Groulx). John will be greatly missed by his close friends and extended family
John was born on April 10th, 1948 in London, Ontario. He worked at Pepsi for over 35 years, both in London and later in Mississauga. John retired as the Ontario Transportation Manager for Pepsi and spent his retirement years wintering in Florida, and on his hobbies of woodworking and renovating. John and his wife Kaye moved to Bayfield and Dashwood during retirement and recently moved to Burlington to be closer to their family and friends. John was always willing to help others with their renovation projects and was a “jack of all trades”. He had a wonderful sense of humour and will be fondly remembered as a man who didn’t say a lot, but what he did say was always thoughtful and important.
There will be no visitation at this time to allow his family and friend’s time to come to terms with this great loss. A celebration of life will be held next year to share memories and remember the wonderful times he shared with so many.
Donations in John’s memory can be made to The Arthritis Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
