John Earl Sanderson (Jack)
January 25, 1940 – April 17, 2021
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Jack Sanderson of New Dundee, ON.
Beloved husband of Joyce (McCreath) Sanderson for 55 years. Loving father of Jill (John) and Steven (Micheline). Cherished grandpa of Melissa (Michael), Katelyn (Cory), Mathieu, Meghan (Josh), Eric, and step-grandpa of Lexxeigh.Proud great-grandfather of Edward and Scarlett.
Dear brother of Donald Sanderson (the late Lydia), and Lois Veldman (Peter). Predeceased by his sisters Dorothy Petker (Bernard, Orville), Margaret Connelly (Melvin), and Marilyn Conmen (Noel). Special cousin of Ruth Kroft and extended family in Fordwich, ON. Fond brother in-law of Sheila Johnston (Jim) and David McCreath. Uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Jack spent many years working at Babcock and Wilcox in Cambridge, ON. before retiring after 37 years of service.
Jack was a devoted husband and amazing grandfather. He and Joyce enjoyed spending time together at their trailer at Silver Lake in Holyrood, ON. for many years with the great friendships formed there. They also have wonderful neighbors and friends at Maple Heights in New Dundee who have been so wonderful and supportive over the years. Jack had a special place in his heart for his ‘adoptive’ granddaughters Amber and Brittany. Wonderful friend to Gord and Louise and Bonnie and John who shared wonderful laughs over the years.
Jack enjoyed joking around and was great with his one liners. He was an early riser and enjoyed a good cup of coffee watching the sun rise. He loved nature, going for drives in the country with his Snix (Joyce), enjoyed road trips with his grandkids for hockey and ringette, listening to talk radio and old country music. He was a great volunteer of Pioneer Park Panthers Hockey.
As per Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date once Provincial Guidelines deem it safe for us to gather again together. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home Limited, Ayr Chapel, 183 Northumberland St. Ayr, ON, 519-632-8228.
Many thanks to Dr. Yeung, Dr. Tan, LHIN and Jack’s incredible palliative nurses, psw’s and home care friends for the incredible compassionate care given over the years.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Freeport Hospital Palliative Care would be appreciated by the family. The care given at Freeport Hospital in Jack’s last week was one of compassion and dignity.
