Obituary of Jim Lockerbie-Thom
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Jim after a lengthy battle with his health. He passed peacefully surrounded by family at Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill on Friday, May 14th, 2021. Jim Thom, beloved husband of Sabrina Stickwood of Pefferlaw. Loved son of Peter Lockerbie-Thom (Mary Ellen) of Baldwin and the late Jackie Lockerbie-Thom. Dear brother of Greg Lockerbie-Thom (Bonnie) of Keswick and brother-in-law of Tracey Stickwood of Woodville and Kelly Stickwood (Dustin Brown) of Cannington. Loving Uncle of Christina, Megan, Alex and Austin. Predeceased by his father-in-law Brian Stickwood. He will be missed by his extended family, many friends and canine companion Jack.
Jim will be remembered for his dry sense of humour, always quick to make a sarcastic joke but always smiling when someone dished it back on him. He was enthusiastic to participate in any adventure. As a child he was a dare devil racing around the neighbourhood on his go kart in the summer months and racing down killer’s hill on his GT in the winter months. As he grew older his toys became bigger (and maybe more dangerous), four wheelers, snowmobiles and boats. Jim had a great love for the outdoors whether it be simply cutting the grass, enjoying a bonfire, hunting, fishing or being at the cottage. He could always be found outside. Jim had a fierce loyalty to his family always willing to jump in where needed, a rescue on the side of the road with a flat tire, a house call when there was a plumbing or furnace issue and the occasional break and enter when you locked yourself out of the house. Jim was on everyone’s speed dial as the bail out call. Some of the memories that will be forever cherished are the annual birthday cupcake contests between Sabrina and Jim that not only got Sabrina smiling but got family and friends riled up for the smack talk showdown. Always game to participate in the Christmas Olympic Games even though he never won. He participated in everything whole heartedly. He will be forever remembered as the joker, the dare devil, the bail out call and the fun one!
