Jean Morris Friday February 12th 2021 avis de deces

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Jean Morris on Friday, February 12th, 2021 at the age of 86 years due to complications arising from COVID-19.
Remaining to cherish Jean’s memory are daughter Shelley (John MacLise) and grandson Eric; son Rob (Mary Ann Go) and grand-dog Kato, brother-in-law Bob Bill and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bob, son Glen, sister Irene Bill and parents, Adam and Bertha Forbes.
Born on August 7, 1934, Jean grew up on William Ave and graduated from Daniel McIntyre. In 1959, she married Bob, after a “whirlwind” seven-year engagement and moved to the “powerline” in North Springfield where she raised her family and spent the next fifty years. In 2011, she moved to Cornerstone where she enjoyed seven years with the many new friends she made and could be counted on to speak her mind at tenant meetings and roll up her sleeves in the social club. The last 2 ½ years were spent at River Ridge Retirement Residence.
One of Jean’s favorite past-times was the Fuddle Duddle Bridge Club, playing with the same core group of ladies every week for 40 years. As kids, we could count on Mom to chauffeur us all over the countryside – except on Thursday bridge night. Jean loved travelling and went on trips with pretty much anyone that wanted to join her to destinations too many to mention. Her travels included several trips to watch her team, the Blue Jays, and to her favorite place of all – Hawaii. At age 82, she joined a jeep trip to see a penguin colony in the Falkland Islands. Between 2008 and 2017, Mom took us on several family cruises, her philosophy being that she would spend our inheritance with us while she could enjoy it too!
Jean was modest, yet accomplished at many things, whether knitting beautiful sweaters, sewing blankies, baking our favorite birthday “inch” cake, writing humorous poems, signing up for organ lessons in her 40s and line dancing in her 60s. She was quietly proud of her family and always available to support us. In the last 20 years, Jean faced numerous health challenges, and her strength and resilience were an inspiration to many. She made the best of whatever cards she was dealt, whether in bridge or in life. Jean will be remembered for her razor-sharp wit and sense of humor. She loved good times with friends, family, rum and Pepsi (not Coke).
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
