Barukčić, Janja (Dec. 11, 1934 in Pot. Lipik, Bosnia-Hercegovina):
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her closest family on January 23, 2021 at Innisfree House at the age of 86.
Loving sister of Ilija (Marija) Barukčić, Ana (Frank) Pavlović, Šimica (Ivo) Pavlović, Marija (late Mijo) Harambašić, the late Anto Barukčić, the late Dragan (Ana) Barukčić and the late Sofija (Živko) Bosančić.
Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews in Canada (John and Frank Pavlović, John Barukčić with his family), Croatia, and other parts of Europe. She will be especially missed by her nephew Tony Barukčić and his family because she helped raise him from a young age. She has always been and will always be “majka” to him.
Janja was a hard working, strong woman whose devotion and love for her family can hardly be matched. She was of very sharp mind and always looked forward to family gatherings during holidays and celebrations.
A very special Thank You to the staff at the Grand River Hospital and everyone at Innisfree House for their incredible care, compassion and support.
Janja’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6-9 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home 507 Frederick St. Kitchener. Masks are mandatory and guests must RSVP to attend the visitation through the funeral home website or by calling (519) 749-8467. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be a private funeral service for Janja’s family at Holy Family Croatian Parish (180 Schweitzer St, Kitchener, ON N2K 2R5). Interment at Woodland Cemetery to follow.
