Scott ,James Leiper – Beaver River, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2021 at the age of 90. Born in Clackmannanshire, Scotland on December 15, 1930 he was the youngest son to the late Drummond and Jeanie (Leiper) Scott. James did his National Service in the RAF, where he trained to be a Blacksmith/Welder. When he completed his training he was posted to Malaysia where he spent 2 years. Upon leaving the RAF he returned to Scotland and worked in the Merchant Marine. He immigrated to Vancouver, BC in 1955 and soon joined the Merchant Marines. Over the years he traveled to South Africa, Russia, Singapore and up and down the West Coast of BC, Washington State and Alaska. After leaving the Merchant Marines he worked for various companies that included a Rope making company where he learned to tie knots, working as a Welder and eventually working in the Shipyards in Vancouver until his retirement. He enjoyed mountain climbing, walking, panning for gold, surfing, gardening and was an avid reader all his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Shirlene (Thomas), sons, Thomas (Aileen) Seaforth, NS. from his first marriage and Albert, Drummond, BC. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Flusk, Elizabeth Scott and brother Thomas Scott. Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeney’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Donations in James name may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
