1931 – 2021
With heavy hearts the family announce the death of Kye Palmer at the age of 90 years. Kye passed away at Temiskaming Lodge Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Born at Haileybury March 30, 1931 to the late Albert Palmer and the late Leila Hoover. Kye was a very proud Haileybury resident and had been involved with various initiatives over the years. Kye was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015 for his involvement and vision for the development of the Haileybury Beach along with fellow Haileyburians Ted Byck and the late George Culhane. For many years, Kye coached and volunteered with Minor Hockey, the Haileybury 54s, New Liskeard Cubs, minor ball, power and figure skating. He also volunteered for many years as a Board Member for Mount Pleasant Cemetery and more recently the Temiskaming Shores Cemetery Board. Kye loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He is fondly remembered as a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Thérèse Deslauriers, his son Denis and sisters: Gladys Sullivan and Murielle Pennella. Left to mourn are his children: Suzanne [Clifford] Henderson and Paul Palmer. Fondly remembered by grandchildren: Cole, Leah, Shane, Laurie, Darcy, Trisha and Carissa; great-grandchildren: Alexis, Leeum, Chantel, Jack, Parker, Tessa and Valerie.
In keeping with Kye’s wishes, cremation will take place at Lakeview Crematorium – Haileybury. A private graveside service will be held at the Haileybury Catholic Cemetery. You can watch the ceremony live, Friday September 24 at 10:00 a.m. on Buffam Leveille’s Facebook page.
