It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Marie (Crompton) Fiander on March 28, 2020 at the Loch Lomond Villa with her loving family by her side. She was born in St. Stephen, NB on April 17, 1931 to the late Lawrence and Ethel (Cook) Crompton and was the loving wife to her late husband Stanley Fiander, who passed away in 2007.
Jacqueline worked as a teacher in both Charlotte County and Saint John County schools for over 39 years. Following retirement in 1989, she was actively involved with the New Brunswick Society of Retired Teachers and was known to attend luncheons and socials with many of her teacher friends. She was an active member of the former St. James Anglican Church, which she attended regularly until her health no longer allowed. For many years on Fridays, she’d gather with others at the church for card parties and lunches as part of fundraising initiatives. She and her family spent many summers at the trailer on the waterfront in St. Andrews, enjoying everything the area has to offer. When she wasn’t working in the garden, she would travel to St. Andrews to stay over and visit family and friends, including her dear sisters nearby in St. George and Calais, Maine. She was a gentle and independent woman who created a lot of lasting memories over the years and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Terri) and Robert (Cathy); grandchildren, Laura (Patrick) and Maryann (Chris); great granddaughter, Annie; as well as several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Jean Woodside and Mary Ellen Nixon.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Due to the ongoing COVID – 19 pandemic, service dates and times are to be determined. For those who wish, donations in Jacqueline’s memory can be made to the Church of Christ the King (Lakewood), the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
