Jacqueline Margaret Louise Myshkowsky Kaiser Saturday May 1st 2021

On Saturday, May 1, 2021, the most beautiful person left this earth after a brief, but vicious battle with cancer. Jacqueline Margaret Louise Myshkowsky was 75 years when she received her angel wings, and her beauty will never be forgotten.
Jacqui has left behind to live on in her memory her one and only child, her daughter Andrea (Kevin), her sister Arlene (Ed), her two grand cats Nestor and SAAVIK, along with countless wonderful friendships with people who became like family.
Jacqui was predeceased by her loving husband Wayne, who passed unexpectedly in 1987. Her parents John Kaiser (1985) and Peggy Kaiser (2016), her stepfather Chris Sarides (2009) and her best friend Linda Meech (1995).
Jacqui had a sick sense of humour and loved to laugh…she could find the funny in anything. She loved a good party and could dance the night away! Through her open mind and heart, she cultivated many friendships over the years, many of which lasted her lifetime.
Mom may have been little at 5’1” tall, but she was fierce! It was important for her to teach Andrea to be strong and always stand up for herself in this world. After the loss of Wayne, this new-found single parent rallied…as devastated as she was that her happy little family was broken, she did not let it break her. Her stoic and resilient strength allowed her to not only provide Andrea with a loving and supportive home life, it created a bond between mother and daughter that was unlike any other. People often commented on the incredibly close nature of this mother/daughter duo.
Jacqui enjoyed a creative life including a 20+ career as a professional floral designer. She was the sole owner of Fern Gully Flowers & Gifts on Corydon Ave for six years before accepting an opportunity to run a floral shop on the stunning island of Bermuda. What was supposed to be a 2 year contract turned into 7 as her adventurous spirit and love of travel took over. She returned home to Winnipeg to retire in 2007. She started a small knitting business with her daughter Andrea called J & A Knitwits. These two girls could often be found selling their fashionable knitwear at local farmers markets and craft sales around Manitoba. It was a fun, creative outlet but most of all, it was time well spent between two best friends.
Anyone who knew this pair knew just how much they both LOVED Christmas. Inordinate amounts of decorating, baking, Hallmark-movie watching and celebrating took place every year at holiday time. One never knew who was going to show up at the dinner table because of Jacqui’s friendly, outgoing and generous nature. She was insistent that no one be alone at
Christmastime and for that reason, Andrea has many cherished memories of laughter and friendship around the holiday table. Most recently, their shared love of the holiday season took them on a bucket-list trip to Germany & Austria. In December 2019, Jacqui & Andrea took a Uniworld Riverboat Cruise visiting all the European Christmas Markets along the Danube. It was a trip they had discussed taking for years and in Dec 2019, they pulled the trigger and enjoyed the trip of a lifetime together. Thankfully they did so because 3 short months later, Covid hit and within two more months, Jacqui’s tragic diagnosis followed.
Jacqui was a great animal lover who had numerous pets throughout her lifetime. She loved to spoil her “gran cat” Floyd who sadly also passed in 2020. She was thrilled when Andrea and Kevin decided to take on two new fur babies they happened to find at a local cat rescue, and had only just started to get to know Nestor and SAAVIK when she took ill.
Jacqui enjoyed nature immensely. Gardening, walking, sunshine were her favourites. She and Andrea spent countless hours together at their favourite spot, Fort Whyte Alive.
Mom had an inordinately strange obsession with Canada Geese. She LOVED them! She was that crazy lady who stopped traffic to let a flock pass. During her final weeks at Riverview Health Centre, a Canada goose took up residence in a planter near the front entrance. She was nesting and keeping her eggs warm, looking out for her little ones until they hatched. Andrea passed by this mother goose daily while visiting, and took comfort in knowing they were there while she, the roles now having reversed, took care of her own mother.
The original intent was to keep Jacqui comfortably at home for as long as possible and Andrea, along with the incredible team at the Palliative Home Care Unit, took every measure to do so. A special thank you goes out to Nurse Lisa from the palliative home care team, who visited twice weekly for months to ensure Andrea had everything she needed to care for Mom at home. However, in her final weeks, Jacqui’s suffering became too great and more assistance was needed. Andrea would like to extend her gratitude to the incredible staff working on the palliative care unit 3 East at Riverview Health Centre for masquerading as humans when in fact, you’re all angels. The care Mom received in the 5 weeks she was at Riverview was impeccable. Most notably, Nurse Maureen, Nurse Carol, Nurse Gerrie and Nurse Brenda. Also, the beautiful soul in health care aid Susan, who drew a picture of Wayne on a pillow case so Mom could have him close. Susan was also the kind lady who remained by Mom’s bedside, holding her hand until Andrea got there in time. People like this help keep hope alive.
In lieu of flowers, Andrea and her family are asking you to consider donating to Fort Whyte Alive via the link provided, www.fortwhyte.org/donate
OR, to Miss J-La’s Fur Babies Cat Cafe and Adoption Centre, located at 224 Henderson Hwy, 204-510-3434, a non-profit organization that was near and dear to her heart.
