Sadly missed by family and friends, Jack Irving Finkleman aged 83, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on March 4th, 2021 at St. Boniface Hospital.
A devoted son to Janet, Jack grew up in North and West Kildonan. He graduated from St. John’s High School where he met lifelong friends and went on to work for London Life until his retirement, when he could dedicate time to cherished activities.
Jack loved road trips near and far (enjoying wonderful stops along the way), amusement parks (where he never met a roller coaster that daunted him), cooking beautiful meals for family and friends, watching the great magicians, and, above all, music and dancing. Jack could energize an entire room jive dancing to 50’s rock and making those around him joyful participants. This made Jack a great magician himself.
Among Jack’s most remarkable qualities was his ability to find joy throughout his life, even when faced with significant challenges. In this, he inspired many. He fought a difficult battle with cancer in a state of grace and courage.
Survived and missed by his wife Linda, children David, Stacey and Jamie (Kathy), step-children Michael (Keri) and Shawnne, and grandchildren Elana, Becca, Alexander, Jasper, and Kaydence.
Together we learned about healing that which may be healed with compassion and love. Love, in the end, is all there is, and it lifts hearts to Heaven.
Jack would not say goodbye, he would say “See you later”. You can count on it, Jack. Dad, husband, Zaida and friend…we’ll all see you later, in the light.
A private service will be held for immediate family with a Celebration of Life to follow in summer. Donations in Jack’s honor can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
