Obituary of Irene Ellen Tobin
It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Ellen Tobin announce her sudden and unexpected passing on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on June 11, 1950 in St. Stephen, NB, she was a daughter of the late Phillip McAllister and Ethel Matheson.
Irene loved being in the health care business and worked for many years at the Charlotte County Hospital as an RNA as well as the Little Acres special care home. She loved to read, hook her rugs, writing in her journal every day and listening to classic rock music. She was also known to be an avid animal lover. Irene loved celebrating every holiday and especially enjoyed being around family and friends at Christmas time. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Irene is survived by her former husband, Steven; sons, Jason Tobin and Adam Tobin both of St. Stephen; siblings, Kenneth McAllister (Cindy), Allan McAllister (Jackie) and Sheree Chandler (Tom) all of St. Stephen; special grandmother, Elsie McAllister who raised her; niece, Sarah Dunn as well as other nieces.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 23 at 2 o’clock PM from Brenan’s Chapel. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Irene’s obituary. For those who wish, remembrances in Irene’s name can be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. www.BrenansFH.com.
