Obituary
Mrs. Inez Davis – Friesen of Okotoks, passed away surrounded by her family on October 4th, 2021, at the age of 83.
Inez was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and was raised on the Halcro family farm near St. Louis, Saskatchewan. She graduated from St. Joseph Covenant School in St. Louis. Soon after she moved to Turner Valley and worked at Jack’s Café and Alberta Government Telephone, where she met some of her best friends. They still get together almost 60 years later for lunch every October.
She married Robert Davis and they moved to Okotoks and raised their 4 children. Inez was proud to call Okotoks her home for most of her life. She was hard- working and dedicated. She was employed at various jobs over the years, The WigWom Café and Helen’s Café were a couple of them. The job she was most proud of and known for, was her work with the Gilbert family at Thriftway, IGA and Sobeys. Many customers and coworkers will remember her smiling face and her helpful and considerate customer service.
She never got a driver’s license, so she could often be seen walking everywhere she needed to go in town. And as Okotoks got bigger that was sometimes a long walk.
Moms greatest love was spending time with her family and many friends. Whether it was watching hockey and lacrosse games, school Christmas concerts or playing cards with family and friends, she cherished every minute.
Mom loved to cook. Growing up as kids, we remember always having a delicious Sunday meal prepared, many times family and friends were included. Even after we grew up, and had our own families, she still planned and cooked for many of our family get togethers.
She was very involved with her church and enjoyed helping to plan the “Young at Heart” monthly lunches. It was at church, that she met and fell in love and married her second husband Gus Friesen. They were very happy together, but sadly due to health issues; they were only able to spend a few years together.
Inez will be dearly missed by her children Cindy (Marvin) Bielert, Lorne (Nicole) Davis, Valerie (Craig) Davis and Ardith Davis. She will live in the hearts of her grandchildren, Scott(Suzanne) and Shawn (Stacey) Bielert, Brandon and Bret Davis, Brittany and Quinn Desroches, Dustin and Sheldon Davis, Candace (Dean) Stabler, Courtney (Jamie) Daley, Carson, Kayla, and Ava McKenzie. Along with her 11 treasured Great grandchildren, Blake, Bentley, Boyd, Myles and Danner Bielert, Louie, Ruby and Arlo Walker, Jane and Rhett Stabler and Dexter Desroches. She is also survived by her sisters Delores and Ruth, and many nieces and nephews.
Inez is predeceased by her parents John and Mae Halcro, brothers Wesley and Lawrence and her sisters Kay, Beulah, and Linda. Her first husband Robert Glen Davis and her second husband Gustav Friesen.
Inez touched the lives of everyone she met, and their lives were enriched for having known her. She loved her family and friends; her legacy will live on in all of them.
