Listen
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mrs. Helen Johnson (Black) of Bathurst N.B. which occurred June 7th at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 92.
Mom was born in Bathurst N.B. and was the daughter of the late Gordon and Francis (Shea) Black.
Mom’s passion in life was her family. She was a very private person and exhibited strength and grace while enduring life’s challenges and her failing health. She was a loyal friend who was always the first to reach out and lend a helping hand. Mom gave the best advice to anyone fortunate enough to confide in her. She was a lifelong learner with an open mind. She witnessed societal change in her 92 years, and she always found a way to accept and embrace the times. Anyone who knew Mom knew how much she enjoyed a good laugh. Mom and Dad spent 61 years together building many successful businesses. After Dad retired Mom went to work at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in medical records and was trusted medical secretary for the late Dr. Billard.
Left to mourn are her children: Christine Johnson-MacInnes (Paul) of Halifax N.S and Peter Johnson (Marie) of Bathurst; son in law Dr. Michael Evans (Mirella)of Halifax N.S. Grandchildren Jillian (Eddie), Curtis, Faye, Grant and great grandson, Louie.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Claude in 2011, her daughter Cynthia Mary Evans in 1996, her siblings Frank Black, Marion Kane, Marguerite Kane, and Marie Dykeman.
Donations in memory of Mom may be made to the Chaleur Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of the donor’s choice.
In Mom’s memory please do something kind for someone without expecting anything in return, as that is how Mom lived her life. Rest in peace. You will be missed.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Her remains will be interred in the family plot at the Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home ( www.elhatton.com ) Bathurst.
