Obituary of Hattie Elaine Wight
Hattie Elaine Wight (nee Langdon), “Tiff”
Pasadena, NL
October 20, 1943- May 5, 2021
Hattie Wight, 76 passed away peacefully at The Western Long Term Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by love, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her companion and fiance, Keith Smith, her sons Rick (Dena), Rodney (Kelly), Darrell of Pasadena, NF, Dennis (Michelle) of Oshawa, Ontario, John of Havelock, Ontario and daughter Bonnie of St. John’s, NF. Proud and loving grandmother to Melyssa, Mickaila, Jade, Kacie, Mason, Morgan, Heather, Dylan, Katie, Joey, Victoria, Marleigh, Avery, Cameron, Kai, Brody, Ethan, her great grand-son, Cruz and great grand-daughter, Summer.
Sister Jessie (Gerald) of Pasadena and brother Ivan of Cormack, as well as a large circle of extended family and special friends.
Hattie was predeceased by her loving husband Victor, parents Kate and Ralph Langdon of Deer Lake, her brothers Raymond Langdon (Dinah) of Pasadena, Jim Langdon and Guy Langdon of Deer Lake.
Many words have been used to describe Hattie, but brave and strong-willed are at the top of that list. She demonstrated that over and over during her lifetime, especially during these past few months. All who knew and loved her dearly, will always remember that she was a strong, feisty, and fiercely independent woman who loved to have a laugh. Her cabin in Howley was her happy place and in recent years, time spent with her partner by the ocean in English Harbour West. She loved her Timmie’s ice capps and watching Dr. Phil. Outside of her family, whom she deeply cherished, her biggest passion was her love of animals, whether it be birds or cats, she loved them all. Pretty sure none of them were aware they were animals.
Tiff, we know how much you loved to laugh, chat, sing, play a game of cards or attend the Women’s Dart league. The World was a better place for having you in it and our lives will never be the same without you.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Western Health Cancer Care Centre and the staff at Western Long Term Care Home for their support and compassion.
As expressions of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Scaredy Cat Rescue in Corner Brook, NF. Email donations will be accepted at scr.fund@gmail.com
At the family’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. Cremation has been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Homes, Corner Brook, NF. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when life returns to normal post COVID, and family can travel without the current restrictions and protocols.
