Grimes, Janet Ann
Early morning on Thursday, September 16th 2021, Janet Ann Grimes passed away by her daughter’s side at the age of 85. A proud resident of Meaford, Ontario, Janet was a beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend.
Born in London, England on November 29th, 1935, to Bessie and Leonard Lyon, Janet immigrated to Canada in 1957, to wed her then-fiance, Royd Grimes. A devout reader, Janet loved to craft, knit, play cards, and spend time with family. Janet was also an avid traveller, and lived for her next adventure.
Janet is survived by her devoted daughter Sarah; loving grandchildren Jessica, Holly, Thomas and Danielle; and great-granddaughter Daejannai. She leaves behind her dear friend Ann Saunders, beloved Maple Meadows community, and many cherished friends and relatives.
Janet will be remembered for her humour, character, thoughtfulness, fierce independence and unyielding love for family and friends. Her spark for life will be missed profoundly.
The family would like to graciously acknowledge the nurses and physicians of Meaford General Hospital and the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center in Barrie for their kind and attentive care in Janet’s final weeks.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the funeral service will be limited to family and close friends. Janet is to be interred alongside husband, Royd, and son, Lawrence at the Meaford Lakeview Cemetery.
