March 14, 1938 – June 20, 2021
It is with sad hearts that we share the news of the passing of our wife/Mom, Glenna after battling cancer for 3 years. She passed the way she lived her life; with grace and concern for everyone else. She was surrounded by her husband and daughters for her final months and found peace in not having to leave her home.
Glenna was born in Dryden and raised in Minnitaki. Lifelong friendships were made and fostered here. She met Arnold in 1953. She asked him to the Sadie Hawkins Dance and they were together from then on and they built a life in Dryden. Glenna worked for many years for Canada Post and at the Dryden Town office. With her husband she enjoyed camping, socializing with friends, gambling and wonderful vacations big and small. Every fall they would jump in the car and just drive. Time, distance and destination were irrelevant. She loved the fall colours. As well her many volunteer positions were so important to her; she wanted to contribute to this community. She also loved doing anything that involved her four grandsons. She especially loved camping with them when they were young and watching all their sports activities. She and Arnold made a lot of winter road trips for hockey tournaments and you could count on her always filling in the teams wins and losses on the tournament schedule and then saving them forever.
She was such a proud Grandma, seeing her boys grow up, pursue careers, find partners and buying homes. She considered herself blessed that her grandsons as well as her special nieces and nephews loved spending time with her. When her great granddaughter was born, she was thrilled by every special moment. Facetiming with her these last months meant the world to her.
Glenna was predeceased by her parents Ed and Eve Davis and her sister Jeanne Strand
Feeling the sadness her loss brings, her husband of 63 years Arnold, her daughters: Keri Odell (Terry Taylor) and Patti Odell, her four beloved grandsons and partners: Chris Taylor (Jessie Grant), Brian Taylor, Adam Ryynanen (Steph Ryynanen) and Ben Ryynanen (Isabella Boyes), and her great granddaughter Nora Ryynanen who has brought smiles and joy for 2 years.
If friends desire donations may be made to St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Dryden or to the Oncology Department at DRHC through the Stevens Funeral Home, P.O. Box 412, Dryden P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted at www.stevensfuneralhomes.ca.
Given COVID restrictions and ongoing family health concerns, no funeral service is planned at present.
As a family we wish to thank everyone for their kindness and compassion and for their friendships with our Mom.
