GLEDHILL, Patricia Maureen
December 15, 1938 – September 1, 2021
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Patricia Maureen (Hipkin) Gledhill on September 1, 2021, at the age of 82.
Pat was born December 15, 1938 in Carstairs, Alberta to Ben and Marion Hipkin. Growing up on the farm nurtured her love of animals, and even as she approached the end of her life she had a cat or dog of some sort nearby. Her warm and caring heart was clear to her family and friends, but may have been most evident when she started taking in foster babies after her second son was born. She would care for them for days, weeks, months, and two of them she adopted and kept forever.
She had a love of adventure which would find her fishing, camping, and any sort of a drive in the country where she would want to know where the next road went.
Pat was predeceased by her first husband Royden Cowitz, her children Barry and Christine, her second husband Ron Gledhill, her stepson Neal Gledhil, and her granddaughter Dawn Pelletier. She is survived by her sons Jim Cowitz (Susan) and Steve Cowitz, and stepdaughter Dianne Pelletier (Leonard), as well as 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, her brother Bob Hipkin (Joyce), and numerous nieces and nephews.
We love you and miss you, but we know you’re finding new adventures and new roads to follow.
We’d like to thank Bethany Cochrane for the wonderful care and support they provided to Pat and also to the family.
Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday September 8, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the Cochrane Alliance Church (902 Glenbow Dr, Cochrane, AB)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories alzheimer.ca/ab/en.
