M. Gertrude’s Obituary
SURETTE, M. Gertrude – age 89, of Comeau’s Hill, Yarmouth Co., passed away on June 13, 2021 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Comeau’s Hill on January 11, 1932, she was a daughter of the late René and Lucie Fitzgerald. Gertrude had worked was a homemaker and had also worked as a fish processor and she also enjoyed quilting. Gertrude is survived by her husband of 52 years, J. Michael Surette, as well as by a daughter, Katherine Sweeney, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Wendy Doucette and Lynne Prowler, both of Alberta, and by great grandchildren, Katie Doucette, Alberta and Chelsea Kenney, Halifax. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Delbert, Edgar and Willard Fitzgerald; sisters, Hazel O’Connell, Katie Fitzgerald, Florence Dugas and Margaret Clairmont. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where a private visitation will take place. A private funeral Mass will also be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Melbourne, Father Pat O’Meara officiating. Interment will take place at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Comeau’s Hill.
