It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our
father, grandfather, and brother after a short battle with cancer. He
is survived by his children, Alicia (Liam) and Michael (Keri Ann);
grandchildren, Leah, Lauren and Tyler; step-grandchildren, Nicholas,
Katelyn and Makayla. He is also survived by his sisters, Wanita
(Henry) Gregory; Florence Vidiksis (J.D. Manion; Barbara Rafuse; Mary
Hudson; Patsy Thibbidao. He will be greatly missed by many nieces,
nephews and cousins. Jackie was predeceased by his parents, Lela and
Clinton Robinson, wife Gail, infant son Bryan and son-in-law Tryson
Saunders. Jackie began his working career at the Britex factory in
Bridgetown. He spent many years driving truck for D.B. Kenny
Fisheries. He spent his retirement years, doing yard work and odd jobs
for members of the community. He was a « Jack of all trades »
and was always available to help in any way that he could. Jackie
enjoyed travelling with Gail, his friends and family. They spent many
years taking cruises and staying at Orange Lake Resort in Florida. He
loved the outdoors and spent a great deal of his time in the woods
hunting and cutting firewood. Jackie was known as Papa Jack by his
grandchildren. He took great pride in and was immensely proud of their
accomplishments. Papa Jack loved taking them for rides on his lawn
tractor and four-wheeler. Jackie was well known to all on the Bayshore
and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Due to the current
Covid-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held
at the Parker’s Cove Baptist Church on Saturday, January 9,
2021 at 1:00 p.m. A private family internment will follow at the
Hillside Cemetery in Parker’s Cove. Family flowers only.
Donations in Jackie’s memory may be made to the Diabetes
Association, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of
one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro.
