Georgina’s Obituary
Georgina Ann Fagan (nee Power) passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family and close friends, on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at her home in St. Mary’s, S.M.B., at the age of 53, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Georgina is predeceased by her loving husband, Randy, parents Michael & Monica Power, brothers Albert and Billy, sister Alice, parents-in-law Sylvester & Josephine Fagan and brothers-in-law: Frank Fagan, Brendan Fagan, Brendan Nolan and Gordon Grace.
Left with fond and loving memories are her sisters: Gloria (Albert) Nolan, Lori-Ann (Leveson) Crant and her baby sister, whom she treated as her own, Sylvia (Curtis) Critch; many special nieces and nephews, especially Emily and Zachary, whom she watched grow up and her « darling treasure bump », niece Avery, who held a special place in her heart; brothers-in-law: Edward Strekowski, Rick (Arlene) Fagan and Johnny Fagan; sisters-in-law: Ann Power, Geraldine Nolan, Patricia Grace, Anne (Frank) Kielly, Joan (Don) Neville, Maureen Fagan, Rose (Michael) White and special sister-in-law and friend Mary Fagan and especially her dearest friend Bernadette « Bun » Linehan, who was so much more than a friend, but a soul sister and a pillar of strength for Georgina. They say an ocean holds a fountain of secrets – Bun was Georgina’s ocean.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank so many people and organizations who touched Georgina in any way, not just at the end, but throughout her life. To Father Steve Courtney for his many visits, prayers, spiritual guidance and his ability to keep Georgina laughing throughout her illness; to the staff of Coastal Shipping Ltd. and all her seafaring family whom she fondly referred to as “me boys”, especially her buddies: Derm Leonard, Dave Walsh and Dale King, who provided her with a second chance at life when it was needed most; to Todd Squires and staff of St. Mary’s Pharmacy; her family and friends who supported her while staying at home throughout her illness and The Best of Care Ltd. for your excellent support and care; to Dr. Sheppard at Airport Heights Medical Center; Dr. Rourke, Dr. Gaviolli, Dr. Ashley Paul and the staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center, including: the chemo unit, both radiation teams and Kelly Bishop and Rhoda Lee for their exceptional care and compassion throughout Georgina’s illness. Special thanks to nurse Ashley Careen and Dr. Fardy for their exceptional care in the later stages of her illness. Your kindness, compassion and professionalism made her final weeks more bearable. To everyone who offered support and kindness, not only during her illness but during the roughest time of her life, the loss of her husband Randy – your presence in her life was greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will commemorate Georgina’s life with a private ceremony on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
