Obituary for
George Young
The family wishes to announce with heavy hearts, the passing of George, in his 95th year, on Wednesday, October 27, at the Rosedale Centre in Matheson. George was predeceased by his parents, Henry Young, and Queenie Anderson (Birch), and his two brothers, Frank (Donna, predeceased) and Joseph. George, a confirmed, lifelong bachelor, is survived by his two sisters, Eileen Burns (Patrick, predeceased), and Joyce Aitchison (Jack, predeceased). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. George was a well-known farmer, who spent the majority of his life in Matheson. George had a passion for horse drawn equipment, yard sales, and discussing the Bible. Almost everyone who knew George, was asked, “how do you get the husk off barley?” It was a question that stumped many individuals. George liked the “simple life.” He preferred coal oil lamps, cooking on a wood stove, and having his family visit. The credits to his longevity are: going to bed early, “usually around dusk,” drinking lots of water, enjoying a pork sandwich, with the fat still on it, and a jigger of Scotch on Friday nights. Above all else, George, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, enjoyed discussing the Bible with his neighbors. He spent his last few years in the Rosedale Centre, in Matheson, where he was well cared for. George made it through the “great depression,” and lived a full, and complete life. He will be missed by his family, and community. Rest in peace, uncle.
A memorial service for George will take place on Saturday, November 06, at 2:00 pm via Zoom. Please contact Ken at 705-363-6277 for more info.
